Inter-religious dialogue has increased rapidly in recent years. One frequently encounters statements of praise for other religions, which show that members of one religion have a friendly attitude towards members of the others, in stories in newspapers, magazines and on the television.

Many religious and political leaders, from the Pope to Tony Blair, from Prince Charles to George Bush, behave in such a way as to bring their religions closer together. Ever since the mid-199s, joint seminars and conferences have been held that bring representatives of different religions together and are a means whereby messages of peace and brotherhood are extended.

These initiatives have grown even stronger since September 11. Beginning with the Pope, many Christian religious leaders and politicians have made statements stating that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance and that Muslims cannot be held responsible for terrorist attacks, and thus praising the religion of Islam.
